At this year’s World Champagne Championship (CSWWC 2023), three of our magnums won gold medals with outstanding judges’ scores: the Carassia Blanc de Blancs Magnum, the Carassia Classic Magnum and the first Long Maturation vintage, the Carassia Blanc de Blancs Magnum 2017 Vintage Collection.
At this year's World Champagne Championship (CSWWC 2023), three of our magnums won gold medals with outstanding judges' scores: the Carassia Blanc de Blancs Magnum, the Carassia Classic Magnum and the first Long Maturation vintage, the Carassia Blanc de Blancs Magnum 2017 Vintage Collection.
Carassia magnums have once again proven their exceptional quality at this year's Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championship (CSWWC 2023), securing three prestigious gold medals. Our magnum offerings, including the Carassia Blanc de Blancs Magnum, the Carassia Classic Magnum, and an upcoming Long Maturation vintage, the Carassia Blanc de Blancs Magnum 2017 Vintage Collection, have received notable praise from the judges.
The results from this year's CSWWC reaffirm the excellence of Carassia magnums, underscoring the importance of long maturation in producing exceptional sparkling wines. Notably, our non-vintage magnums, the Carassia Classic Magnum and the Carassia Blanc de Blancs Magnum, have reached their pinnacle after more than three years of maturation in magnum bottles. Our Carassia Classic Brut Magnum, a balanced assemblage of classic Champagne grape varieties, also was awarded a gold medal, and was hailed by the judges for its "extraordinary elegance and creamy aromas." Meanwhile, the Carassia Blanc de Blancs Magnum impressed with its refreshing Chardonnay-driven profile, securing the highest rating.
Gold Medal Glory for the Inaugural Vintage Magnum
This year's third, but for us the most glittering gold medal goes to the Carassia Blanc de Blancs Magnum 2017 Vintage Collection, aged for five years. Our first vintage magnum was long aged to achieve what the judges described as its "classic, toasty complexity" while retaining its "stylish, intense fruitiness". This lot is the first in the Collection series and will be released in a very limited number of bottles.
This year's most illustrious gold medal, however, decorates the Carassia Blanc de Blancs Magnum 2017 Vintage Collection, which matured for five years on lees before release. Our inaugural vintage magnum has matured gracefully to achieve what judges have described as a "classic, toasty complexity" while retaining its "stylish, intense fruitiness." This exceptional offering marks the debut of our Collection series and will be released in an extremely limited quantity later this year.
Tom Stevenson, the founder of CSWWC, shared his thoughts at the results announcement on 18 September, stating, "I can honestly say that we are living in a golden age of sparkling wine." Indeed, in Kárásztelek, we are experiencing the golden age of magnum excellence this year.
About the Competition:
The CSWWC has evolved over the past decade to become the world's most rigorous and esteemed champagne competition, revered globally for its stringent judging process and for its judge's expertise. The tenth edition of CSWWC in 2023 attracted sparkling wines from 40 wine regions spanning 19 countries. After a four-stage judging process spanning 11 days, only 18% of the nearly 1,000 entries—equivalent to 170 sparkling wines—earned the coveted gold medals.
